Harold and Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay

Harold and Kumar

Harold and Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay (2008) is about two best friends that end up getting sent to Guantanamo Bay, because a women on an airline thinks that Kumar (who is Asian Indian) is a middle eastern terrorist trying to blow up the plane.  What ensues is a wacky story of the pair’s escape, which pokes fun at a number of racial stereotypes present in our society today.  Check out a more detailed summary here http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0481536/plotsummary

A surprising fact about Kal Penn, one of the creators of the film as well as the actor who plays Kumar, is that he was a visiting Asian American Studies lecturer at the University of Pennsylvania.  The influences of this professional background can be seen in the movie.
